The baby shaped, pea green, farting aliens fail to take over/destroy the world. (I know. A big shock for us all.)
2. The Doctor
Now that Jackie knows who the Doctor really is and what Rose has been up to, the Doctor faces pressure from Jackie to keep Rose safe. Not that the Doctor has put Rose in danger willy nilly, but he must ask himself the question if he is doing enough to keep her out of danger. Not only that, but has to make the difficult decision to destroy the aliens and save the world, even though it would most likely end in Rose's death. Of course she doesn't die, but it's still a major conflict for him, proving his ever deepening feelings for Rose.
3. The Companions
Not only is there Rose and Harriet Jones helping the Doctor out, but Mickey begins to grow a pair in this episode by rescuing Jackie from an alien and helping the Doctor hack into nuclear missile stuff. Mickey has a fun journey from the sniveling, fear struck boyfriend to a badass in his own right. He's not quite there yet, and that's the fun part with watching everyones' character arcs grow and develop. I saw a meme showing Mickey and Rory and it said something like "Doctor Who, turning boys into men since 2005," and I think that that isn't too far from the truth.
4. The Villain
Still not much to say about them, other than that the fact that the aliens can only fit in overweight bodies is quite offensive to overweight people!
They do have a couple lines that are pretty awful in a fantastic way. The first being "Rejoice in it! Your body is . . . magnificent." Let that be a lesson to you all.
The second on is quite simple but effective: "Victory is naked." That should be made into a t-shirt.
5. The Score
5/10
Slightly more tolerable than part one of this storyline? Some good character moments . . . .
6. The Very Whoiest Moment
I really do enjoy the parts where the Doctor, Harriet Jones, and Rose are stuck together under lock down. We get to see more of the Doctor's limitations as he struggles to figure out where these aliens are from, and hence, their weaknesses. He asks Harriet Jones and Rose to shoot him with the facts they know about the aliens, the well known part where he keeps saying "narrows it down." The Doctor can come off as superior to humans sometime. But it's times like these, working together with the best of the humans, that show he has more things similar to us than different.
Well this one's finally over! Thanks for sticking it out with me.
